NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION
COMPUTER SCIENCE, ENGINEERING and MATHEMATICS SCHOLARSHIPS

Pellissippi State, in conjunction with the National Science Foundation, is proud to offer up to 40 scholarships to students who are majoring in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics, or the related technologies. The CSEMS scholarships are awarded in amounts up to a maximum of $1562 per semester. Individual awards are determined by the United States Department of Education, based on the student's FAFSA. Scholarships may be automatically renewed for a maximum of four semesters provided the student fulfills the requirements of the program. In addition to the monetary award this program includes special tutoring, professional mentors, and specialized advising to help our students be successful in obtaining an Associates Degree in two years and then either transferring to a four-year university or entering the job force.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Scholarship recipients must meet the following criteria:

Be a U.S. citizen, national, or alien admitted as a refugee at time of application.
Be eligible for Federal aid as determined by the U.S. Department of Education.
Be accepted for admission to Pellissippi State.
Be enrolled full time (12+ credit hours) in Computer Science, Computer Science Technology,
Pre-engineering, Engineering Technology, or Mathematics degree programs.
Demonstrate academic merit by GPA, standardized test scores and class rank.

MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS

Scholarship recipients will participate in the following:

Special orientation sessions and workshops.
A mentoring relationship with a professional in the student's field of study.
Relevant campus student professional organizations and activities.
Tutoring activities as needed.

SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS MUST MAINTAIN A GPA OF AT LEAST 2.5 EACH SEMESTER.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Currently applications are being looked at and rewarded on a first come first serve basis. Applicants must complete a 2003-2004 Pellissippi State Scholarship Application, following all instructions regarding the National Science Foundation Scholarships.
