First High Performance Teaching Workshop Focuses on Classroom Management

Do inappropriate behaviors in your classroom occasionally frazzle you?Are you searching for new ways to cope with discipline problems?The Faculty Council High Performance Teaching Team invites you to a very special presentation that may give you just the support that you need.

Dr. Emily Walker—founder and CEO of The Doris A. Walker Academy, a private alternative school in Knox County—will present “Dealing with Disruptive Behavior in the Classroom” at noon on Monday, November 5, in the Goins Auditorium.The wisdom that Dr. Walker will share with us comes from her diverse teaching experiences—6 years in public school, 5 years at ETSU, and 4 years at Lincoln Memorial University Graduate School.In addition, she has served as an administrator for Knox County for 13 years, part of that tenure being Principal at the Richard Yoakley School, formerly the Knoxville Alternative Center.

Dr. Walker’s presentation is the first in a series of workshops sponsored by the Faculty Council.Upcoming presentations include“Speaking Skills for Instructors,” “What Works in the Classroom,” and “Quick-Time Movies.”Look for more details in future issues of Pelligraph.
